Disney Vacation Club

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a vacation timeshare program owned and operated by Disney Vacation Development, Inc., a subsidiary of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, a unit of The Walt Disney Company. It allows buying real estate interest in a DVC resort. Disney Vacation Club's Senior Vice President is Ken Potrock.
To be a DVC member, one must purchase a one-time real estate interest in one of the Disney Vacation Club Resorts, and thereafter pay annual dues. All ownerships are sold as either a ground lease or a term-for-years.
==History==
The first Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Vacation Club Resort, opened on October 1, 1991 at Walt Disney World. These vacation club hotels are operated by Disney Vacation Developments, Inc. as vacation timeshares.〔

Disney Vacation Development Inc. announced on March 30, 1993 plans for a 440-unit time-share resort in Florida south-east 95 miles from Walt Disney World,〔The New York Times, March 31, 1993. In early 2011, it was reported that Disney had purchased land near National Harbor, Maryland (20 minutes from Washington, DC) and thus could possibly build a resort similar to the three currently located outside of a Disney theme park property. However, in late November 2011, Disney announced that it had canceled plans to build a 500-room resort hotel at National Harbor.
Disney Vacation Club announced on September 17, 2013 that its planned next location will be Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The addition (and conversion) to the Polynesian Village resort officially opened on April 1, 2015 however not all buildings and amenities were completed at that time.
